Last night we hosted a special intimate MySpace Music event with Jay-Z at the Blender Theater in NYC to celebrate the release of his new album The Blueprint 3. Hundreds of fans and friends including Baron Davis, Harve Pierre and Memphis Bleek lined up outside to check out the show and support one of the most popular artists in music today as he performed in one of the most intimate venues he has played in more than a decade.

At 7 a.m. I stood outside the Blender Theater as the line of anxious fans grew coiled around the block. For this show fans had to RSVP to a secret email address in order to receive information about where to pick up tickets. Many even shared personal stories about how Jay’s music inspired and changed their lives - one fan even named her son Jayson because she met her husband at a Jay-Z concert.

Throughout the night Jay’s performance was a mix of greatest hits and crowd pleasing songs off his new album The Blueprint 3 including his two hit singles "Run This Town" and "Death of Autotune". No words can describe what the crowd sounded like when Hova rocked his hometown stage with "Brooklyn Go Hard" as hundreds of fans born and raised in Brooklyn sang every word at the top of their lungs.

In between new Blueprint 3 tracks he’d throw in a classic like "H to the Izzo," "Big Pimpin," and "Jigga What" that would nearly blow the roof off the house - literally. During the climax of the show the fire alarms went off, the electricity on stage cut out and without sound, Jay and his 11 piece band left the stage. Over 7 minutes of dead air time passed and fans started cheering his name in the hopes the he would come back for one last song.Backstage I turned to Jay-Z and said, "Well, Thank you for playing an amazing show for us. I hope you aren't going anywhere." Just like a scene from a movie, Jay-Z turned to me and said "I'm not going anywhere, Ma" - then he grabbed his mic and returned to the stage to finish the show properly with "Encore."And he's right; no matter how much time passes between each album Jay-Z isn't going anywhere.
